Wikipedia Edit

My 5th edit to the Wikipedia article on UD Football, exceedes the required 4 edits due to the fact that my article on Burnt Sienna was deleted. I founnd on UDaily, the UD online news source, that K.C. Keeler's contract with UD football as head coach would be extended until 2009. I added this info under the heading " Blue Hens under the lead of K.C. Keeler".

Wikipedia Edit

As my 5th edit to the Deer Park Tavern article, since my article on Burnt Sienna was deleted, I added more details to the Service heading that I recently created. To inform those interested, I stated that not only does Deer Park offer a full menu from open to close along with nightly specials, they also have nightly entertainment to satisfy their customers.

Wikipedia Edit

The article that I created on one of my favorite cover bands, Burnt Sienna, was deleted by Wikipedia due to its promotional activity. I found this somewhat exciting to see the process of an edit/elimination personally. It just shows that there are people out there monitoring wikipedia articles that coincide with its rules and standards. Since this was deleted, I will make 2 more posts to my other articles.

Comment on classmate's blog 6

Kristie's blog comments on the article "Should SEOs Care About Wikipedia" and the popularity this website creates, I must agree with Kristie that SEO's should get involved to utilize this no-cost form of generating traffic. With the very nature of this program in allowing users to make additions and edit to articles, companies could monitor and correctly edit articles referring to their company. However one must realize that since this source is created by users, that this source should not be the sole source in researching.

Comment on classmate's blog 5

Brenna's blog post commenting on her iColor Studio Wikipedia article suggested that it was categorized as a "Stub". Not being so sure exactly what this term meant, I looked up the term on goggle and found the definition. An article too short to provide more than rudimentary information about a subject should be marked as a stub. One can make edits and or remove article that is considered a stub. When I googled the term, the first site to come up was from Wikipedia, which shows the usefulness and popularity of Wikipedia today.

Lydia originally helped me to set up my Google Adsense, since I am computer illiterate, ( maybe not illiterate, but I use technology in its simplest forms, hey my car still has a tape deck)! But I really liked how she had advertisements of the class' textbooks pictured on the cite. Signing up for Amazon Affiliate will allow me to show the same, and I am one step closer to having my blog to reflect the class template.

Comment on classmate's blog 3

Checking out the last member of my teammate, Mike B.'s blog I noticed at first that it was all in pink! lol. The post titled "reflection on class" commenting on the changing technology, I thought it was pretty smart for Mike to compare the use of Facebook as an addiction to most and a potential outlet for marketers to reach their target customers.

Comment on classmate's blog 2

I was looking through Kristie's blog, and I really found it interesting how she did her Wikipedia edit on the Warped Tour. We actually had to review the company Vans and their corresponding programs, the Warped Tour being one of them. I wonder if she used the research she did to make edits to Wikipedia as a supplement of analysis for the Harvard Business Case on Vans we had to analyze, and vice versa?

Once again, my last comment on a required blog will be on Diva Marketing...hope thats ok? The article titled "Good Relationships Should Impact Your Bottom Line"emphasizes my management ethics and strategy. I feel that maintaining good relationships and putting much effort on the happiness of your customers/employees/ supplier, etc. will in return benefit you and your company. Utilizing blogs and discussion boards is a great way to receive feedback to enhance your relationships thus improving chances to improve your bottom line.

Commet on required blog 3

I really find it hard to relate to many of the required blogs, especially those focused on technology and IT. However, I find that the Diva Marketing Blog, as it is obviously geared to its female viewers and participants, the material discussed is more in tune with my interests. The post on May 16, 2007, "AMA's Proposed New Definition Of Marketing" struck my interest, mainly because of my almost completed degree in marketing!!
As the post shows the original definition vs. the new proposed definition of marketing, many as well as myself find it very wordy. I also agree that being so in depth, doesn't leave much room for creativity and straying away from this definition.

Wikipedia Edit

My last edit to the Deer Park Tavern Wikipedia article that I created included edits to the formatting of the page. Since this was my first article created, I was not aware of how to format the article to look like many others on the website. I organized the material under a title "history" for easier reading and researching. Thank you.

Wikipedia Edit

My third edit to the Deer Park Tavern Wikipedia article that I created needed some more additional information about the services provided by the Deer Park. I added a section titled "services" and reminded customers looking up Deer Park on Wikipedia that they offer catering services.

Wikipedia Edit on Google top 10 search

Just to let you know that my Wikipedia article that I created on the Deer Park Tavern is #10 search on Google!

Wikipedia Edit

After noticing that there were changes made to the Deer Park Tavern article by other users, including deleting material that they thought were promotional, I chose to try and "beef" up the article that I created. The other user suggested that the article needed more work. The first edit I did was to correct some grammatical errors, and wording of the material featured in this article.

Wikipedia Edit

My last edit to the University of Delaware Football wikipedia article, included a final results of the seasons under K.C. Keeler. Hopefully 2007 season will look better!

Wikipedia Edit

My third edit to the University of Delaware Football wikipedia article, included a date change from the starting date of Coach K.C. Keeler from 2003 to 2002.

Wikipedia Edit

My second edit to the University of Delaware football article, included the addition of a sub-heading, "Blue Hens under the lead of Coach K.C. Keeler". Under the new Coach, the Blue Hens started out strong, but can they keep up their stamina during this transitioning period? I first noted the gain of a National Championship after 24 years.

Wikipedia Edit

My last edit to the Gamma Sigma Sigma article on Wikipedia includes an addition to the "Up and Coming with Gamma Sig". I added the theme chosen for the National Convention. The convention will contain a "Spotlight on Service" to emphasize the service given through Gamma Sig. Thank you...

Wikipedia Edit

This is my third edit to the Gamma Sigma Sigma article on Wikipedia. I added a section titled "Membership" to inform those interested in joining Gamma Sigma Sigma, what the qualifications and necessary steps to become a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma.

After checking up on my sorority's national website, I found the date of our 2007 Gamma Sigma Sigma Convention. I added a new section titled Up and Coming with Gamma Sigma Sigma, and hope to add new events.

Search Optimization Experiment

To learn about how Google, especially, uses search engine optimization in keyword searches, we used the keyword: stiuqxela as an experiment to test this search technique. The keyword which is Alex Quits backwards (our professor is Alex), is linked to an outside irrelevant website, Packers.com. The experiment will test if a linkage to the Green Bay Packers will come up along with results on Google.

Comment on required blog 2

While searching for some post that interested me on the required blogs, I came across "Blogging In Public Health" on Diva Marketing Blog. This post describes the benefits of introducing social media in the form of blogging to public health. Here is the list that bulleted those benefits.

10 Benefits of A Social Media / Blogging Initiative
  1. Tell stories from the heart
  2. Humanizes a complex agency
  3. Tell your story in your voice/s – no media filter
  4. Create relationship with millions of people
  5. More people hear your story – search engines, viral marketing
  6. Many voices help tell your story – bloggers linking
  7. Tell your story when you want – instant, easy publishing [audio (podcast), video (vlog)]
  8. Feedback and conversation – increased value and additional information
  9. Online information travels offline
  10. Mainstream media is turning to blogs for story ideas
From this post, I would be more prone to utilize blogs in my daily life. In situations such as this, I see the value of the autonomy and guidance blogging can provide. Especially on health websites holding discussion boards and or blogs, I feel that the benefits of connectivity are much stronger in these situations. Thanks... :)

Internet Economics

In the realm of Internet Economics, we discussed the the relay of messages to consumers and the parallelism with profit/success of that message. I found the Reach, Richness and Flexibility theory very interesting. Traditionally when a company wanted to reach a larger audience, it was often at a disadvantage of the richness of the message or the quality of the communication of the message to the potential consumer. However with the Internet, and doing business on the Internet, companies can reach large numbers of clients without sacrificing quality of the communication message due to the Internet's flexibility. For example, Amazon can still communicate with millions of customers and with their close attention to personalization based on customer's past purchases Amazon can still offer a personal sales presentation to each individual customer. When I logged on to Amazon.com, recommendations based on my only purchases being our class text books include similar books dealing with IT and Marketing etc.

Open Source

Friday we talked about Open Source in lecture, a concept very new to me. A item of product development, where a software is composed of code which when consumer purchases, they can make changes to tailor and change product for personalization. We have been using a system like this all semester with the website Wikipedia.com, which is a user contributed web encyclopedia. Problems with this technology include hacking and pirating software for file sharing.

Skype

I have have heard of the new technology that is Skype, but never seen or experienced this communication type first-hand. Even though we did have some technical difficulties which no fault to our professor's (computer fell on floor) I got a good idea of the value added of this technology. A peer-to-peer Internet telephony network the most attractive characteristic of Skype communications system its broad range of features, including free voice and video conferencing. Not that I currently have much use for this product, I can see the value in subscribing to a network such as this. We saw how easy a connection was made with our Professor's college in England and how clear that connection was. I forecast that I will use a technology such as this in the future especially if on business trips and such.

VALS Survey

While updating my blog postings, paying close attention to work that I did outside of class but did not blog about (which would been an easy assignment to blog on) I came across the VALS Survey that I did for myself. Upon completing the survey, it concluded that I am an Experiencer/Innovator with my primary being Experiencer and my secondary type is Innovator.
As and experiencer, I am
motivated by self-expression. I quickly become enthusiastic about new possibilities but am equally quick to cool. I am categorized to seek variety and excitement, savoring the new, the offbeat, and the risky and my energy finds an outlet in exercise, sports, outdoor recreation, and social activities. This portion of the description of my personality is very correct and describes my lifestyle very well.
However it was described that experiences are avid consumers and spend a comparatively high proportion of their income on fashion, entertainment, and socializing. Their purchases reflect the emphasis they place on looking good and having "cool" stuff.
These descriptions do not represent me very well. This in congruency with my personal purchasing habits must be due to the secondary type of an Innovator coming into play.
Innovators are successful, sophisticated, take-charge people with high self-esteem. Because they have such abundant resources, they exhibit all three primary motivations in varying degrees. They are change leaders and are the most receptive to new ideas and technologies. Innovators are very active consumers, and their purchases reflect cultivated tastes for upscale, niche products and services.
Image is important to Innovators, not as evidence of status or power but as an expression of their taste, independence, and personality. Innovators are among the established and emerging leaders in business and government, yet they continue to seek challenges. Their lives are characterized by variety. Their possessions and recreation reflect a cultivated taste for the finer things in life.
I really identify with the description of an Innovator, but with some characteristics of the Experiencer, the description is more complete.

4th Wikipedia Edit

Off to a late start, midterms took up majority of time and blogs got pushed back unfortunately. But better that it gets done now. I had to create another Wikipedia article again, since there were no previous articles on the topic. One of the bands I like to see that perform at The Deer Park is Burnt Sienna. I just added a small bio with each member of the band and what role in the band they play... check it out please. Thanks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnt_Sienna_Band

3rd Wikipedia edit

Hey everyone, I made another Wikipedia edit for this week. Since I am such an avid fan, I chose to put my input on the University of Delaware Football article. I added the tentative schedule for the season coming up; Fall 2007. One more topic to go!

Commenting on classmate's blog 1

I believe we had to comment on a subscribed blog and then blog our comments as a class assignment. Since my classmate's blog is a blog that I subscribe to, I read my teammate Brenna's Blog on her Wikipedia artical edit. I particularily like how she saw a problem that needed to be edited but researched the population number first just so that she was 100% sure. Good job Brenna!

2nd Wikipedia Edit

Hello Everyone,
Instead of making an edit to a preexisting artical on Wikipedia, I created an artical on all of our favorite, Deer Park Tavern. This was a little more difficult since I feel the need to post more information along with figuring out how to format the edit with the HTML codes and such. (which I am no good at). I did use information from the Deer Park's website, and I hope I referenced it right. If there are any reccommendations, or if anyone sees a mistake that I can fix, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch. :)

My first edit to Wikipedia was on the article about the National Service Sorority, Gamma Sigma Sigma. My edits were to add the positions held on the executive board that run the chapter of the sorority.
